Cinco de Mayo

May 5, 2020

Typically on Cinco de Mayo we would have tacos.  Hands down, one of the most loved meals at school is walking tacos.  We actually do not walk around while the tacos are eaten, but it has become a wanted hot lunch meal! :) While you do not need a reason to have walking tacos, today being May 5 (and it's a Tuesday) is a great day for Taco Tuesday!!

Cinco de Mayo is a holiday that celebrates the Mexican army's victory over France at the Battle of Puebla in 1862.  Today is also known as Battle of Puebla Day. In the USA, Cinco de Mayo has evolved into a commemoration of the Mexican culture and heritage, especially is areas with large Mexican-American populations.  While you may not experience the parades, parties, music, folk dancing, etc., as in years past, you can still celebrate and have a little fun at home.

Here is a website I found that has a few activity suggestions.

I think my house will be having tacos for supper tonight!
